SOUTH COAST WINERY GARNERS 12 AWARDS AT THE 2024 TOAST OF THE COAST WINE COMPETITION WITH THREE DOUBLE GOLD AWARDS

2023 Grenache Noir Rosé Wins Best Rosé

TEMECULA, Calif. – South Coast Winery, owned by Carter Hospitality, proudly announces the winery garnered a total of 12 medals at the 2024 The Toast of the Coast Wine Competition produced by the San Diego County Fair. The winery also won Best Rosé in the competition for its 2023 Grenache Noir Rosé, along with its three Double Gold medals for its 2023 Grenache Noir Rosé, 2023 Merlot Rosé and 2022 Gewurztraminer. In addition, South Coast won three Gold medals and six Silver medals in the competition.

The prestigious The Toast of the Coast Wine Competition celebrates the craftsmanship, tradition and innovation of wine producers throughout the world. Hundreds of global wine entries were judged by a board of highly respected industry professionals, including winemakers, sommeliers, wine journalists and wine business managers. The event took place from February 24 to 25 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, Calif. On June 12, Double Gold and Gold award-winning wines may be purchased and will be served at the annual San Diego County Fair’s wine experience where over 1.6 million visitors attend every year.

The following are tasting notes from South Coast Winery’s 2024 The Toast of the Coast Wine Competition Double Gold Winners:

  • 2023 Grenache Noir Rosé from Temecula Valley is a beautiful rosy pink. It is dry with a light body and crisp acidity and has delicate notes of strawberry, raspberry and cotton candy with hints of tangerine and citrus zest.
  • 2022 Gewurztraminer from Temecula Valley is lightly sweet with bright acidity. It is known for its floral aromas of honeysuckle and roses with tropical notes of lychee on the palate.
  • 2023 Merlot Rosé from South Coast is blushing pink and exhibits bright red fruit aromas of strawberry and raspberry with notes of pomegranate on the palate. It delivers a light and delicate sweetness on the finish.
