Announcement: 'Lady Ta-tas'

Canyon Lake resident Marilyn Kelsey was the winner of a “Pink Boot Contest” hosted by the Wild Women of Wine Country at a luncheon at the South Coast Winery and Resort in Temecula. Marilyn’s entry was entitled “Lady Ta-Tas.” The boots were decorated in a hot pink sheer fabric with mirrors and an assortment of silver detail, and her husband, Warren, says, “There is a rumor spreading that Lady Gaga wants the boots. If so, more money will be raised for this very worthy cause.” Marilyn’s prize was a breast cancer awareness gift basket. More than 200 women attended the luncheon for the benefit of the Susan G. Komen Foundation (Inland Empire), which is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer.
South Coast Winery’s Wild Women of Wine Country was founded a few years ago in support of Michelle’s Place, the local breast cancer resource center. The group’s goal was to host action-packed fun-filled events at the resort in Temecula. Today, the organization has expanded to include a vision that now supports several of the region’s most trusted philanthropies, including Shriners Hospitals for Children, Thessalonika Family Services at Rancho Damacitas and Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Riverside County.
This wasn’t Marilyn’s first entry to win a Wild Women of Wine Country contest. Last year, her “Mardi Bra” received the largest number of votes from those attending the luncheon and was included in the 2010 “Traveling Bra Show” calendar, with proceeds to benefit Michelle’s Place.
Marilyn says her mother was a breast cancer survivor for many years and now Marilyn is a new breast cancer survivor of three months. Although she is not a member of the Wild Women of Wine Country, she and Warren attend many fundraiser functions associated with breast cancer awareness. They plan to participate in the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” this Sunday, October 17, in Temecula.
